"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
The Good News of the GospelHave you ever thought it would be good to have a new start in life? For all that’s gone before to no longer have any hold and to simply begin again. Well, the good news is that it is possible, and that our lives can be, not just changed, but transformed! It takes though, something, or rather someone outside of ourselves, who is greater than ourselves, to bring about that change. And that someone is Jesus – God made man!
Jesus talked about our need to be ‘born again’; in fact, He said that unless we are born again, we cannot see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3). So, it’s very important that we understand what Jesus meant. But first, why do we find it so hard to bring about change in our own lives? Well, the Bible calls the things that are wrong in our lives, sin. It also says that when sin is not dealt with, we become slaves to sin (Romans 6:16) – in other words, sin controls us and we are not free. |
Jesus, though, came to set us free. Jesus said Himself that He who the Son sets free shall be free indeed.(John 8:36). Jesus’ purpose in coming to this earth was to destroy all the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). He did this when He died on the cross – the penalty for sin was paid and the power of sin was broken. He also took all our sickness on Himself when He hung and died there, so that we might be healed (Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24). After 3 days, Jesus, having defeated death, came back to life! He is alive today, and is able to give us that brand new start in life, that so many would love to have!
The Bible tells us that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). And that is what being born again is all about. It’s the start of a friendship with God, and the start of us allowing His power to be at work in our lives, changing us from the inside out and making us into the people God always intended us to be.
If you would like to make a brand new start, and to turn to Jesus, then the Bible tells us that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved (Romans 10:9). We will have a new life – eternal life! So, if you are willing to do these things then pray the salvation prayer below by reading it out loud to God, and you will be born into the Kingdom of God:

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the Name of Jesus, knowing that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour. I believe that Jesus, You died on the Cross at Calvary, for all my sins, sickness and disease. I now confess You, Jesus, as my Lord and Saviour; I believe in my heart that You, Father, raised Him from the dead, therefore, according to your Word, I am now saved. I turn away from my past, renouncing all evil and all other gods. I know that I am forgiven through the blood of Jesus; I ask that You would guide me and help me in my new life with You. I thank You that You say You give the Holy Spirit to those who ask; I ask You now, therefore, to fill me with your Spirit, and give to me the ability to speak with other tongues. I believe Your Word is true, so I thank You now for saving me, coming into my heart, by Your Holy Spirit, and for being Lord over my life. Amen
